Organizing is My Jam

One of my worst kept secrets is that I love to organize. Let me say that again; I LOVE to organize! Organizing isn’t work to me; it’s like putting together a life-size puzzle. I transform a massive pile of objects into a single beautiful picture.

As I’ve mentioned often in this blog, I live in a tiny studio; almost all storage had to be something I created. Fortunately for me, I don’t subscribe to the theory that I have to tuck everything away. If it’s pretty, why not showcase it? Many of my passions require tools, and tools need to be stored. Sewing machines, fabric, needles, and thread need a place to live. I also have camera equipment, paints and brushes, oh, and let’s not forget my love of shoes. So many shoes…..

Throughout my time in my space, I’ve showcased many of the things I love.

I could keep everything neatly tucked away in boxes, but I find that I forget what I have when I keep everything out of sight. I keep the pretty things out in the open, and I store a lot of the more utilitarian objects, and sometimes I use a combination of both methods. Not every tool is visually appealing, and other items are just too small to keep lying around.

I enjoy finding unique ways to store and display my belongings. I considered going the customized closet route, but once I tweaked things here and there the price tag got to be higher than what I was comfortable paying. That is not to say that I don’t think those systems are worth it, I’m just a DIY girl at heart. Give me a few hours to access the space and some time in Ikea, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, and an art supply store, and I will deliver an organized life like no other.

Until next time.
