This Lazy Girl's Guide to Wine Presents: Wine Down Wednesdays

Happy Wednesday to all my Lazy Girls!

I've decided to make Wednesdays the official day to talk about Wine.  Not an original idea, but definitely fitting, and what could be more perfect for the day nestled squarely in the middle of each week? I'm sure Wednesday gets tired of being referred to as Hump Day anyway. 

Up until a few days ago, weather in the A was earning a Double D rating. Double D for Dark and Dreary. The past few weeks have seen temperatures in the low teens with highs barely creeping above 30.  That kind of situation spells hibernation for me. Add a little Netflix binge, something cooking on the stove, a good glass of wine and you've got a night to remember. Or a night to forget if you drink too much wine, so please don't do that!

When it comes to wine, I'm obviously a fan, but I'm a very fickle fan.  One week I love White, the next week Red and in between I'm in love with Blush or Rose. What can I say? A girl has a right to change her mind and I exercise that right often. 

The recent cold snap has me feeling Red Wines lately.  I don't like being out and fortunately my winter break has allowed me to spend many evenings cozied up on the couch plowing through everything I have saved on my DVR. 

Gray days also put me in the mood to cook and I've been doing a lot of it. My latest dish was Spicy Black Beans and Rice with Chorizo sausage in the slow cooker.  The taste is amazing, but it looks like a big 'ole bowl of lumpy mud in pictures, so you'll just have to take my word for it. I paired my delicious yet unphotogenic dinner with a lovely Red Wine.

It was a Red Blend bold enough to stand up next to the fatty spicy flavor of the Chorizo as well as the meatiness of the black beans (wait....does that sound right, can beans be described as meaty? Never mind, I'm sure you know what I mean) I also have a penchant for using red  pepper flakes and this wine stood up nicely to everything. 

All in all it made for an lovely evening.  It also left me fantasizing about embarking on a career involving me cooking and eating comfort food, drinking wine and writing about it.  Anyone know of any openings? Think about it, I'll wait.......
