This Lazy Girl's Guide to: Wine Down Wednesdays

Here we are, just a stone's throw away from February 2018. In past years this is when I'd be lamenting the speed at which January flew by me and whining for a do over. For some reason however, this year is different.  January wasn't all that bad.  That is, if you don't count this flu season so epic that it's knocking people down harder than Mike Tyson did during his heyday.

This winter has given me a small taste of what winters must be like in other parts of the country. Cold enough that I don't get coat shamed when I show up in one of my many wool outer garments. (Don't look at me like that. Yes, coat shaming is a thing!) It's so cold that everyone is walking around in coats, scarves, hats and gloves so I'm off the hook.

Harsher winter weather and the ever looming threat of catching the flu have sent me further into hibernation mode than I already was. This means lots of nights sitting on the sofa binge watching something or participating in dance parties for one involving moves so ridiculous even my plants turn away from me. It also involves glasses of smooth buttery wine.  I've already established that I'm all over the map when it comes to my preferences, but lately I've been loving Chardonnays.

A bright buttery Chardonnay pairs with the pastas, chicken and pork dishes I've been making, not to mention seafood or fish.  On dark cold nights, a plate of lightly salted oven baked sweet potato wedges coupled with a tall glass of wine equals snack time goals. I've learned the hard way that the Chars don't play well with tomato based sauces or heavily seasoned dishes. Meals with flavors that have a bit of bite to them also won't work.  Any bitter notes make Chardonnay taste sour and that's just downright disrespectful. A lazy girl NEVER disrespects her wine!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to set my glass of wine on a coaster, climb under this blanket with a plate of snacks and re-binge watch seasons 1 - 4 of Black Mirror

Until next time.......
